SmartSolar MPPT 250/85-Tr VE.Can is a solar charge controller with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for 12, 24 or 48 V with automatic selection batteries, with a charge current of 85 A and a maximum PV open-circuit voltage of 250 V. It has a VE.Direct port, VE.Can ports and built-in Bluetooth.

The controller can also recharge a deeply discharged battery that is not permanently sulphated or otherwise damaged, and can operate from a battery voltage of 0 V. MPPT technology quickly tracks the maximum power point, and the charging settings are fully programmable and can be configured for different battery chemistries, such as lead-acid, lithium and others.

The built-in Bluetooth allows configuration and monitoring with the VictronConnect app (battery voltage and current, PV voltage and current, historical data). If the installation is connected to the internet through a GX device, the Victron Remote Management (VRM) portal provides access to all data; for locations without an internet connection, the GlobalLink 520 device can be used. VictronConnect and VRM are free of charge.

The charger has CAN bus ports (VE.Can): several units are daisy-chained with a single RJ45 cable, synchronise their charging stages and can send their data to a GX monitoring device. A VE.Direct port is also provided, and the remote on/off terminals can be controlled by an external device, for example a lithium battery. An optional plug-in LCD display provides live data, configuration and control directly on the front of the device.

The PV connection is made via screw terminals 35 mm², and the battery connection via 35 mm² screw terminals. The maximum PV short-circuit current is 70 A. The dimensions are 216 x 295 x 103 mm (height x width x depth) and the weight is 4.5 kg. Up to 25 units can operate in synchronised parallel, and up to 10 via Bluetooth.
